How to Care for Rug Pads
Rug pads require very little care. With the minimal care to your rug pad, you will add years of protection.
Rotate your rug pad Like with area rugs, rug pads should be rotated. Rotating your rug pad will prevent uneven wear on one part of the pad. The best way to rotate is to rotate your rug pad along with your rug. this should happen at least once a year and you should rotate it 180 degrees each time.
Vacuum your rug pad Dust particles eventually settle in the foundation of rugs and sometimes this dust can go through to the rug pad. Once in a while it is a good idea to lift your rug and check to see if your tug pads needs to be vacuumed. Most solid rug pads can be vacuumed with any type of vacuum. For the rug pads with holes, it is best to lift the pad and shake it out as well as vacuum the floor under it.
Cleaning your rug pad In the event that a spill goes through your rug and onto your rug pad, simply expose that part of the pad and blot the spill with a damp sponge. For animal accidents, it is a good idea to blot with a soap and water mixture. Once you have blotted the spill, let the pad air dry before placing the rug on it again. For really heavy spills, make sure to check the floor under the rug pad as well.
