Felt rug pads are made of a felted jute material. They can be made of either a synthetic felt jute or a recycled felt jute. Both types of felt jute are good yet there are differences. The synthetic felt jute may contain adhesives or chemicals and this can pass on an odor, particularly in warm conditions. The recycled felt jute rug pad is made of recycled carpet fibers, mainly wool, and the rug pad does not contain any odor. There are also felt rug pads available with a felt surface and either a natural rubber lower surface or a rubber like lower surface. This felt rug pad is made for protection as well as providing a non slip feature.

Felt jute rug pads are excellent protection for all types of area rugs. For rugs that tend to slip, there is a felt jute and natural rubber rug pad for slipping and for room size rugs that do not slip, there is a felt jute rug pad without rubber.
Qualities of various felt jute rug pads
Felt jute rug pads are made in weights. They start at 20 ounce and go up to 40 ounce. The ounces refer to the amount of fiber that is compressed per square yard of rug pad. The higher the weight, as the 40 ounce, the more dense and solid the felt rug pad will be. The more dense the rug pad, the better the protection for rug and floor and the more comfortable it is to walk on.
